MindWalk's HYFT Database Hits 660 Million Biological Patterns as Pharma Outsources AI R&D

MindWalk publicly demoed its ReefIQ platform for the first time, built on a HYFT database of roughly 660 million biological patterns, and filed a new patent layered atop its core technology. Meanwhile Novo Nordisk closed an internal cell therapy unit and licensed the program to AI-driven Cellular Intelligence, with its stock up nearly 25% in 30 days.

MindWalk Holdings showed its ReefIQ platform publicly for the first time this month, running on HYFT Technology, a database of roughly 660 million biological patterns encoding conserved relationships between sequence, structure, and function.13

The company also filed patent EP26187897.9, adding a computational layer on top of its foundational HYFT patent, EP3881326A1. MindWalk says the filing is additive, not a re-filing of the original patent.2

MindWalk's pitch: representation of biology itself is the hard problem in drug discovery, and the place to build a durable advantage.3 Biological data is deeply interconnected, but it's typically scattered across files, formats, systems, and teams. MindWalk argues that data has to be reconnected into a single, governed, queryable web before AI can reason about it usefully.1

MindWalk isn't alone in the race. NVIDIA BioNeMo, Boltz Lab, Owkin, Basecamp Research, and Edison Scientific are all building toward the same goal: owning the connected biological representation layer underneath drug discovery. NVIDIA is anchoring lab-in-the-loop partnerships with Thermo Fisher and Eli Lilly.

Big pharma is restructuring around the shift. Novo Nordisk closed its internal cell therapy unit and licensed the program out to AI-driven Cellular Intelligence rather than build it in-house.4 Its stock rallied nearly 25% over 30 days.4

Together, the moves point to a broader transition: away from vertical integration, toward outsourced, AI-accelerated R&D built on shared biological data layers rather than proprietary in-house pipelines.

AI Capital Surge Meets Investor Caution: Record Funding Rounds and Government Contracts Amid Valuation Skepticism
A single-week cluster of large AI/fintech funding rounds (Socure, Stability AI, Emerald AI, Generalist AI, Instinct, Gatik, Regent Craft) shows venture capital still pouring into AI infrastructure, identity, and autonomy plays, while Palantir's Army TITAN contract win coincided with a 6% stock drop — signaling that even flagship AI-defense revenue isn't immune to market reassessment of AI valuations. Efficiency-focused innovations like Multiverse Computing's model compression suggest the sector is also pivoting toward cost/inference economics as capital intensity draws scrutiny.

Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC
The same metric (eps) for the same entity (Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC) reported for the identical fiscal period (Q1 2026) and observation date (2026-03-31) has two conflicting values: 3.43 USD_per_share vs 3.08 USD. This is not a temporal change — both observations claim to measure the same point in time. The ~10% discrepancy (0.35 USD difference) is material for a financial metric.
